Come with us, not for a “boat ride”, but for a river experience.
Join us on the Mighty Mississippi for a 35 to 40 minute narrated sightseeing
tour aboard the historic “Riversong”. Our trips are a
personalized combination of relaxation, history, and adventure.
Located just above Interstate 80 on the Iowa side of the Mississippi,
you are likely to meet someone from another part of the world on
our trips on any given day. They come to see Mark Twain’s
river in search of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, and a thousand
other reasons. The more you know about the Mississippi, the more
you will want to know.
The Riversong
Our boat named the Riversong was built in 1959 as a canal tour
boat in New York. Originally named the “Lola G” she
gave tours on the New York State Barge Canal, formerly the famous
Erie Canal. Prior to our purchase, she ran on the Milwaukee River.
Before moving to LeClaire, Iowa we ran the boat on the Hennepin
Canal and the Rock River in Illinois.
The boat is U.S. Coast Guard certified to carry passengers for
hire and is maintained to the highest standards and inspected annually
by the Coast Guard.
Due to the nature of our offerings, we cannot be responsible for
any condition beyond our reasonable control. Every effort will be
made to modify or substitute due to an unfavorable condition.
Accommodations
The Riversong is certified for 24 passengers plus crew, but for
your comfort, we try to limit the number to 16. Every seat is a
window seat and what you don’t see departing, you will see
on the return. There is a snack counter running down both sides
of the boat. As we do not sell food and beverages, passengers are
welcome to bring their own. Alcoholic beverages are permitted.
Though not technically handicapped accessible, we make every effort
to accommodate and assist everyone aboard.
There is a restroom on the boat.
Your Captain
Captain John Vize is a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, having
received a personal letter of commendation from the Commandant.
Captain Vize is also licensed by the Coast Guard as Master of Great
Lakes and Inland Steam and Motor Vessels, with over 40 years experience
on ocean, Great Lakes, and river vessels, having carried millions
of passengers.
